Print on demand publishing advices

Book distribution recommendations for unknown and established authors? Market Your Book: If you aren’t a major public figure, it’s unrealistic to think you can publish your book and the world will just stumble upon it. Making sure your book metadata is as good as it can be is one way for people to discover your book organically online, but you still have to promote your book in order for it to succeed. You can do this via guerrilla marketing efforts, book reviews, book publicity, social media advertising, and so much more. Be sure to plan your book promotion and get a handle on your book marketing strategy before you publish your book for the best results.

Contact newspapers: Write a press release. This is usually a one-page article about you, your book or the subject matter. You’ll want to hook a reporter’s interest with a strong opening paragraph, and make them want to know more. Print advertising: Have a professional designer create promotional pieces to assist in marketing such as bookmarks with your web address or phone number, business cards, posters, flyers or brochures.

Enter competitions. Historical romance writer Candice Hern explains one of her self-publishing tips on her blog that a contest was key to her success: As soon as I decided to try my hand at writing romance, I joined Romance Writers of America. One of the many benefits they offer unpublished members is the opportunity to enter writing contests that provide valuable feedback from judges — regional contests as well as one important national contest. I won two of the four regional contests I entered, and the winning entries for one of the contests were sent to acquiring editors.
